Crystal Palace vs West Ham betting tips: Premier League match preview & predictions

Crystal Palace vs West Ham prediction: Crystal Palace 1-1 West Ham

Palace’s four-match unbeaten run came to an end last weekend. Meanwhile, West Ham have won two of their last three matches on the road.

West Ham will be the fresher of the two sides. Liverpool’s involvement in the Club World Cup meant that the Hammers had last weekend off.

The Eagles will take confidence from the fact that they have already beaten West Ham in the Premier League this season.

Crystal Palace vs West Ham: Who will win?

Crystal Palace have failed to beat West Ham in their last five meetings at Selhurst Park. Palace are still 13/10 favourites to win the match while West Ham are priced at 21/10 to win. The draw can be backed at 12/5.

There have been fewer than three goals scored in eight of Palace’s last nine home matches, as well as in each of West Ham’s last three away trips. Bet on under 2.5 goals to be scored in the match at 10/11.

Wilfried Zaha has scored in two of Palace’s last three home matches. Zaha is 6/1 to open the scoring and 15/8 to score anytime.

Crystal Palace vs West Ham Premier League match preview

Boxing Day serves up a London derby treat as Crystal Palace host West Ham at Selhurst Park. Thursday’s fixture will also mark the half-way point of the season for Palace.

Palace suffered a 1-0 defeat at Newcastle on Saturday, courtesy of Miguel Almiron’s late winner. In their last home match, Roy Hodgson’s side were held to a 1-1 draw by Brighton.

Only Watford (6) have scored fewer goals at home this season than Crystal Palace (7). That said, Palace boast the joint-third best home defence, having conceded just 8 goals in their nine matches at Selhurst Park.

In their last match, played a fortnight ago, West Ham beat Southampton 1-0 at St. Mary’s. Sebastien Haller scored the only goal of the game. West Ham have won three and drawn three of their nine matches away from home, picking up more away points than the likes of Arsenal, Man United and Spurs.

Palace came from behind to win 2-1 when these two sides met at the London Stadium in October. Sebastien Haller opened the scoring for West Ham in the second half. Patrick van Aanholt equalised for Palace from the penalty spot before Jordan Ayew snatched a late winner.

West Ham begin Boxing Day in 16th place, four points above the relegation zone. They have, however, played one fewer match than the sides around them. A win for Manuel Pellegrini’s side would see them move within a point of Palace. A win for 12th-placed Crystal Palace would propel them into the top half of the table.

Last season’s corresponding fixture at Selhurst ended in a 1-1 draw in February. Mark Noble had given West Ham the lead from the penalty spot before Wilfried Zaha equalised in the second half.
