Crystal Palace vs Man United prediction: Crystal Palace 2-2 Man United

Two sides in decent form clash at Selhurst Park.

Palace need the points to help ensure survival.

Manchester United must win if they’re to keep pace with the top 4.

Should be an entertaining watch.

Crystal Palace vs Manchester United: Who will win?

Crystal Palace last beat Manchester United in the league in 1991 but are 2/1 to change that statistic.

Manchester United have won their last two visits to South London and are 5/4 to make that three.

A draw, which suits the home side no doubt, is 5/2.

Both Lukaku and Alexis Sánchez to score is 7/1.

Crystal Palace vs Manchester United: Match preview

Crystal Palace are climbing away from danger.

On Saturday, Roy Hodgson became the oldest man to manage a Premier League game and he celebrated the occasion in style.

The Eagles ran out 4-1 winners at Leicester; the first time they’d scored 4 or more in a league game since April of last year which was a 5-0 win, also against Leicester.

They’re now unbeaten in 4 league matches with 2 wins and 2 draws in that time.

That form has seen them climb up to 13th in the table and they have a 6 point buffer over the bottom 3.

Will their unbeaten run go on?

As for Manchester United, they dropped out of the top 4 at the weekend.

Ole Gunnar Solskjær’s side held league leaders Liverpool to a 0-0 draw at Old Trafford on Sunday but that result did see them drop down to fifth in the table.

Nevertheless, the Norwegian remains unbeaten in the Premier League having amassed 26 points from his 10 games.

Not bad.

They are still in the FA Cup and are very much still in the hunt for a place in next season’s Champions League.

The Red Devils surely must win here though.

He’s already won at Arsenal, Tottenham and Chelsea during his short tenure so will their recent good form in the capital continue?

After a superb performance on Saturday, Hodgson will want to change as little as possible.

32-year old Vicente Guaita is very much established as the number 1 goalkeeper these days.

In front of him, Mamadou Sakho went off injured at Leicester and will miss out.

Scott Dann will come in.

At right-back, Aaron Wan-Bissaka is unlikely to be fit so Joel Ward will continue to deputise.

Roy Hodgson did not comment on whether or not the 21-year old would be fit in Tuesday’s press conference.

In midfield, since his debut in February 2017, Luka Milivojević has scored more Premier League goals than any other Crystal Palace player (20), including 8 this season.

He and his partner James McArthur were absolutely outstanding at Leicester and will have to be again.

Their form means that Max Meyer will once again be on the bench.

Further forward, Wilfried Zaha’s brace means he has now scored in three consecutive league appearances for the first time in his career.

Jeffrey Schlupp could continue in a more central role.

Up front, Michy Batshuayi got his first goal for the club at the weekend.

That was his first Premier League goal for 490 days but, to be fair, he has had two loan spells abroad in that time.

Christian Benteke and Jordan Ayew will once again be left in reserve.

Can this side pull off a shock?

Marcus Rashford

As for Manchester United, they could be without 6 guaranteed starters for this game.

It could be a busy night for David De Gea.

On Sunday, he became the seventh goalkeeper to keep 100 Premier League clean sheets for a single club and the second to do so at Manchester United, after Peter Schmeichel.

Despite all the absentees, Ole Gunnar Solskjær can name his preferred back 4.

Young, Lindelöf, Smalling and Shaw will start, just as they did against Liverpool.

Antonio Valencia, Matteo Darmian and Phil Jones are long term absentees.

It’s further forward they have even more problems.

Midfielders Nemanja Matić, Juan Mata and Ander Herrera are both out.

Scott McTominay will sit at the base of the diamond with Andreas Pereira and Paul Pogba further forward.

They have so many injuries that even Fred could get a rare start.

He’s started just 7 times in the league since joining from Shakhtar Donetsk in the summer.

In attack, there’s no Anthony Martial, Jesse Lingard or Marcus Rashford

Lingard, who was only just back from injury, became the first player to be substituted on and off in the first half of a Premier League game since January 2015 at the weekend.

All of this could see Alexis Sánchez get just his fifth start under the new manager alongside Romelu Lukaku.

Solskjær did hint that Rashford could be available but it seems unlikely he’ll be thrown in from the start.

Despite all the injuries, it’s still a good team.

But is it a team good enough to beat Crystal Palace?
