Crystal Palace vs Huddersfield betting tips: Premier League match preview & predictions

Crystal Palace vs Huddersfield prediction: Crystal Palace 4-1 Huddersfield

Crystal Palace will be looking to take advantage of a Huddersfield squad that has been completely ravaged by injuries.

Palace have lost their last two at home but have scored at least once in each of their last 14 matches in all competitions.

Huddersfield will be particularly low on confidence after blowing a 2-goal lead in their last outing.

Crystal Palace vs Huddersfield: Who will win?

Huddersfield have only won once away from home this season. The Eagles are 4/9 favourites to win the match while a Huddersfield win is priced at 7/1. The draw can be backed at 16/5.

Only Fulham have conceded more goals on the road than Huddersfield. Palace to win with a -1 handicap is 13/10.

Michy Batshuayi has scored three goals since joining the Eagles in January. The striker also netted in Belgium’s 2-0 win over Cyprus in the international break. Batshuayi is 4/1 to open the scoring and 7/5 to score anytime.

Crystal Palace vs Huddersfield Premier League match preview

Premier League action returns on Saturday as Crystal Palace host struggling Huddersfield at Selhurst Park.

Palace lost 2-1 at Watford prior to the international break. Batshuayi scored a consolation goal for the Eagles.

Palace begin the weekend 14th in the table, though they are not yet out the woods by any means. The Eagles are five points above the relegation zone, and have played a game more than one of the sides below them.

Palace have been let down by their home record this season. In fact, Huddersfield are the only team to pick up fewer points at home than Roy Hodgson’s side.

The Terriers remain bottom of the table following their defeat at West Ham last time out.

Jan Siewert’s side had a 3-1 lead at the London Stadium at one stage but went on to lose the match 4-3.

Huddersfield’s fate is all but sealed as they look destined for a return to the Championship.

A spike in form could realistically see them finish above Fulham, but the 16-point gap between them and safety looks insurmountable.

Huddersfield’s relegation will be confirmed if they lose, and Burnley and Southampton both win their matches.

The two sides have met three times in Premier League history, with the visiting team winning to nil on each occasion.

Wilf Zaha scored the only goal of the game when the sides met in the reverse fixture at the John Smith’s Stadium in September.

Crystal Palace team news vs Huddersfield

Hodgson will be sweating on the fitness of star duo Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Wilfried Zaha.

Wan-Bissaka did not play in either of England U21’s recent internationals as a precaution and could return at the weekend.

Zaha went off with a tight hamstring against Brighton and has not trained fully since.

Mamadou Sakho is also ruled out for the Eagles, while Pape Souare and Bakary Sako lack match fitness.

One of Scott Dann or Martin Kelly should partner James Tomkins at the back.

Huddersfield team news vs Crystal Palace

As if Huddersfield’s challenge wasn’t hard enough, the Terriers could be without as many as ten players for Saturday.

Danny Williams and Isaac Mbenza have returned to training, following knee and calf injuries respectively, but both remain slight doubts for the weekend.

On-loan Jason Puncheon will miss out as he is ineligible to face his parent club.

Following his two-goal haul against West Ham, Huddersfield will be desperate for Karlan Grant to be available. Grant has a slight knock and will be assessed ahead of kick-off.

Demeaco Duhaney is a major doubt with a groin injury, while Laurent Depoitre is set to miss out with an ankle problem.

Christopher Schindler is set to be available following a bout of illness.

Jonathan Hogg, Juninho Bacuna and Aaron Rowe are further doubts for Siewert’s side.

Pacy winger Adama Diakhaby is set to miss out once again with a muscle problem.
