Crystal Palace vs Brighton betting tips: Premier League match preview and predictions

Crystal Palace vs Brighton prediction: Crystal Palace 2-0 Brighton

The latest chapter of the Premier League’s most unexpected derby.

This rivalry has been fierce since the mid 1970s due to intense battles in the third division.

Now both meet in the Premier League for the fourth time and, although there is 46 miles between them, it will be as intense as any other derby.

Despite the fact they played for 62 minutes with 10 men, Brighton ran out 3-1 winners when these two met in December.

Who will be celebrating at Selhurst on Saturday?

Crystal Palace vs Brighton & Hove Albion: Who will win?

Crystal Palace’s good form means they are big favourites at 4/5 to win.

Brighton have won just 4 of their 33 Premier League away games and are 19/5 to change that.

A draw is 12/5.

Under 2.5 goals is 8/13 and both teams to score no is 8/11.

Palace to win and keep a clean sheet is 7/4.

Wilfried Zaha continues to be Palace’s talisman. The Côte d’Ivoire international is 4/1 to score first and 15/8 to get his ninth of the season.

Michy Batshuayi has scored in each of his last two games since joining on loan from Chelsea. The Belgian is also 4/1 to break the deadlock and 9/5 to make it 3 in 3.

Florin Andone scored the winner for Brighton last weekend. He’s 5/1 to score first and 9/4 to net in 90 minutes.

Both Zaha and Batshuayi to score is 15/2.

Both Andone and Alireza Jahanbakhsh to score is 20/1.

Crystal Palace vs Brighton & Hove Albion: Match preview

Palace are in great form!

Since January 30, they have won two and drawn two to ease any relegation worries.

That included a thumping 4-1 win at the King Power Stadium over Leicester City.

Their unbeaten run did come to an end in their last home game though as they were beaten 3-1 by Manchester United.

Nevertheless, they bounced back with an emphatic 3-1 victory at Turf Moor.

The 8 goals they’ve scored in their last 3 accounts for 23% of all the goals they’ve scored this season.

Their form has seen them climb up to 13th in the table and there is an 8 point gap between them and the drop zone.

Can they keep their form going and push their rivals closer to danger.

Brighton meanwhile are in horrific form.

Last weekend, a late header from Florin Andone was enough to see them beat bottom club Huddersfield 1-0.

However, that was their first win of 2019 and prior to that they’d taken just 1 point from 6 games.

After beating Palace in early December they went up to tenth.

But, having won just twice since, they’re now 15th and only 5 points above the danger zone.

Their away record is also abysmal so surely they can’t pull this off can they?

A huge game in store for both.

After some great performances, Roy Hodgson will have some selection headaches.

Somewhat surprisingly, Wayne Hennessey came back in for Vicente Guaita at Burnley last weekend.

That was the Welsh international’s first start since 12 January but he’s expected to keep his place.

At right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka is back after a hamstring injury.

He’s made more tackles than anybody else in Europe’s top 5 leagues.

Scott Dann also started that match.

That was his first league start since New Year’s Eve in 2017.

Mamadou Sakho is expected to miss the rest of the season with a knee injury.

In midfield, James McArthur will come back in with either Cheikhou Kouyaté or Max Meyer dropping out.

The form of Jeffrey Schlupp is currently keeping Andros Townsend out the side.

Wilfried Zaha will be looking to add to his 5 career goals against Brighton.

Michy Batshuayi will continue up front with Christian Benteke and Jordan Ayew on the bench.

It’s a strong, in form side, but will they get the better of Brighton?

As for the visitors, Chris Hughton too has some big decisions to make.

Mat Ryan will, as always, be in goal.

At the back, Martín Montoya will be at right-back with Bernardo likely to keep his place ahead of Gaëtan Bong.

Centre-back Shane Duffy was sent off in the reverse fixture and has made more headed clearances than anybody else in the league (116).

In midfield, Pascal Groß is unlikely to be fit after picking up a hamstring injury at Leicester.

Bissouma, Stepehns and Pröpper will be the midfield trio.

They have options further forward.

Alireza Jahanbakhsh’s man of the match performance last week should see him keep his place with Anthony Knockaert.

It would be a big call, but Glenn Murray may well be left out against his old side.

He scored 47 goals in 126 games for Palace but only has 2 in his last 13 for Brighton.

Last week’s match winner Florin Andone could well come in.

Murray would be alongside other attacking options such as Solly March, José Izquierdo and Jürgen Locadia on the bench.

Can this side spring a surprise?
