Crystal Palace vs Arsenal betting tips: Premier League match preview & predictions

Crystal Palace vs Arsenal prediction: Crystal Palace 0-2 Arsenal

Crystal Palace endured a difficult festive period, winning just one of their last seven matches.

Arsenal have improved drastically in almost every area since Mikel Arteta’s arrival last month. The Gunners are seeking a third consecutive victory for the first time since August.

Arsenal are unbeaten in their last five matches away from home in all competitions.

Crystal Palace vs Arsenal: Who will win?

Arsenal are 5/6 favourites to win the match while a Palace win is priced at 3/1. The draw can be backed at 29/10.

Eight of Crystal Palace’s last nine matches have featured fewer than three goals. Bet on under 2.5 goals in the match at 11/10.

Arsenal have kept back-to-back clean sheets for the first time since October. Bet on an Arsenal clean sheet at 7/4.

Alexandre Lacazette can count himself very unlucky to not have scored in recent matches. Lacazette is 7/2 to open the scoring and 1/1 to score anytime.

Crystal Palace vs Arsenal Premier League match preview

A rejuvenated Arsenal side take on London rivals Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Saturday afternoon.

Arsenal progressed to the fourth round of the FA Cup with a 1-0 home win over Leeds on Monday night. A fairly strong Arsenal side started the game poorly and were lucky to go into the break on level terms.

Mikel Arteta’s half-time team talk must have done the trick because his side looked completely different in the second half. They were rewarded for their second-half display when  Reiss Nelson found the back of the net with a scrappy goal. Arsenal will face Bournemouth in the next round, later in the month.

Arsenal moved back into the top half of the table in their last league match, beating Manchester United 2-0 on New Year’s Day. Another victory for Arsenal would see them leapfrog Palace, who are currently one point above them.

Crystal Palace down to the bare bones

An injury-hit Crystal Palace side were beaten 1-0 at home by Derby County on Sunday. Palace have now failed to win any of their last three. Despite their average form, Palace remain ninth in the table.

Crystal Palace have won four and drawn three of their 10 Premier League matches at Selhurst Park. They also boast the joint-best home defensive record, conceding just nine goals.

Palace’s problem at home has been finding the back of the net, as they’ve also only managed to score just nine themselves.

Arsenal have only won two of their 10 Premier League away matches this season. That said, only two sides have lost fewer matches on the road than Arsenal (3). The Gunners do enjoy a draw away from home.

Palace came from two goals down to draw 2-2 at the Emirates in October. Sokratis and David Luiz gave Arsenal an excellent start but goals from Luka Milivojevic and Jordan Ayew turned the game around for the visitors.

Saturday’s game will be the 22nd Premier League meeting between the two sides. Arsenal have won 13 and drawn five of those. Palace do have a solid recent record in this fixture though, winning one and drawing two of their last three league matches against Arsenal.

Crystal Palace team news vs Arsenal

Roy Hodgson could be without as many as 12 first-team players for the visit of Arsenal.

Luka Milivojevic will serve a suspension following his red card in the FA Cup, much to the relief of all Arsenal fans. Milivojevic has scored five goals and assisted another in his six Premier League appearances against the Gunners, making them his favourite opponents statistically.

Palace are hopeful that Wilfried Zaha and Christian Benteke will shake off their respective knocks in time to start against Arsenal

Max Meyer and Jairo Riedewald both picked up knocks against Derby and are expected to miss out. James McCarthy and Sam Woods are in line to replace the injured duo.

Andros Townsend, Jeffrey Schlupp and Joel Ward are all sidelined until the end of January at the earliest.

Victor Camarasa is another injury doubt for the Eagles while Scott Dann and Mamadou Sakho are long-term absentees.

Arsenal team news vs Crystal Palace

Arsenal’s absentee list has shortened significantly in recent weeks, although they still have a few defenders out injured.

First-choice full-backs Kieran Tierney and Hector Bellerin are both expected to miss out, although Bellerin has returned to training. Ainsley Maitland-Niles was rested against Leeds, suggesting he will start at right-back against Palace.

Calum Chambers will likely miss the rest of the season after he ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament against Chelsea.

Having made a couple of changes in the FA Cup, Mikel Arteta could be tempted to field the same eleven that beat Manchester United on New Year’s Day.
