Crystal Palace take to social media to bemoan Liverpool’s Thiago escaping punishment at Anfield

The social media admin at Crystal Palace was quick to make his/her grievances clear this afternoon, after Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara somehow escaped a caution early in the clash between the sides.

All square

The Eagles are of course currently locked in action with Jurgen Klopp’s men at Anfield.

It was the latter who headed into proceedings as understandable favourites to bag all three points, on the back of a 3-0 drubbing of Leeds United last time out.

Palace, though, too had their tails up ahead of kick-off, having secured a first win of the season in impressive fashion last time out, also a 3-0 final scoreline, at home to capital rivals Tottenham.

In turn, it should not come as too much of a surprise to hear that, to this point in the action on Merseyside, the visitors have managed to hold their own.

In fact, Patrick Vieira’s men struck the post not once, but twice inside the opening three minutes, marking the two standout chances of the afternoon thus far.

‘Correction’

As outlined above, though, it was not their side’s efforts to open the scoring at Anfield which in fact saw the social media team at Palace catch the eye of supporters this afternoon.

This, instead, came in the form of the Eagles’ Twitter admin’s bemused reaction to an incident a short time later.

After a foul which can only be described as blatant on the part of Thiago Alcantara, it was widely assumed that the Spanish international was in line for a booking.

Somehow, though, referee Andy Madley decided against such a call, a decision which evidently irked those back at Selhurst Park:

*Update* – Liverpool have since taken the lead through Sadio Mane.
