According to reports across the European media this evening, Croatia’s Ivan Perisic is in doubt for his country’s World Cup final clash with France tomorrow.
The two nations are set to go head to head in the finale of this summer’s thrilling tournament in Luzhniki in a 4pm kick-off.
France were the first to secure their place in this summer’s showpiece, after Didier Deschamps’ men put Belgium to the sword by a goal to nil courtesy of a header from Samuel Umtiti on Tuesday night.
Croatia, meanwhile, got the better of England in their own final-4 outing, with Mario Mandzukic’s half volley in extra-time having proved the difference between the sides on Wednesday.
As such, the stage is set for the biggest game in world football, with France heading into proceedings as heavy favourites.
Les Bleus saved their most impressive showing of the tournament so far for the semi-final versus Belgium, with Didier Deschamps’ men having looked equally blistering in attack and miserly in defence.
If the 1998 World Cup champions can reproduce such a performance tomorrow evening, Croatia will have their work very much cut out for them.
As a result, Zlatko Dalic’s Croatia will likely need to be at no less than full-strength for the matchup, an aspect which looks to be in serious doubt, based on the latest reports doing the rounds across the European media this evening.
As per Football-Italia.net and more, Ivan Perisic, who played a starring role in his side’s turnaround victory over England, missed Croatia’s training session earlier today, due to a thigh problem picked up on Wednesday night.
The Inter Milan winger is therefore viewed as a major doubt to be fit to face France, a potential hammer-blow to the prospects of Croatia.
