Cristiano Ronaldo’s brilliant post-Young Boys steward gesture revealed

Cristiano Ronaldo’s brilliant post-Young Boys steward gesture revealed

For those who may have missed it, Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo was responsible for a wonderful gesture earlier this week, on the back of the club’s meeting with Young Boys.

Reds shocked

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men of course got their latest European campaign underway on Tuesday night.

The Red Devils made the trip to Bern, for a Champions League group stage clash with Swiss giants BSC Young Boys.

United headed into proceedings as overwhelming favourites to bag all three points, buoyed by the recent return of Cristiano Ronaldo, and looked well on their way to precisely that when the Portuguese goalscorer found the net inside the opening quarter of an hour:

Young Boys, however, had other ideas.

After Aaron Wan-Bissaka was given his marching orders for a dangerous challenge late in the first-half, the hosts went on to take full advantage, levelling things up through  Moumi Ngamaleu, before bagging a remarkable last-gasp winner when Theoson Siebatcheu capitalised on substitute Jesse Lingard’s costly mistake.

CR7’s classy gesture

As outlined above, though, the 36-year-old did not allow the woes of his side to sway him from a touch of class on the back of the full-time whistle on Tuesday.

Ahead of kick-off at the Stade de Suisse, footage surfaced of Ronaldo checking on a steward behind the goal, after striking the woman in question with a wayward shot during the visitors’ warm-up session.

And CR7 was sure to seek out the unfortunate steward post-match, too, with the Red Devils having confirmed that their new star man, despite his disappointment at the result, handed over his match-worn jersey to the member of Young Boys staff:
