Cristiano Ronaldo has urged Real Madrid to sign Portuguese team-mate William Carvalho, according to Don Balon.
West Ham United attempted to sign the 25-year-old during the summer but were unsuccessful.
The Hammers’ owners were heavily criticised by Sporting for the way they went about making offers for the Euro 2016 winner.
William Carvalho is hopeful of signing for a club that plays in one of Europe’s top five leagues.
The midfielder has been highly courted around Europe for many years now.
It is understood that his preferred destination is to play in Egland.
Both West Ham United and Arsenal have been strongly linked with the Portuguese international in recent seasons.
However, the competition to sign him may have just been raised through the roof with Real Madrid now linked.
Real Madrid have made a disappointing start to La Liga and want to add to their squad in January.
William Carvalho could, therefore, be a strong option to bolster their midfield
West Ham remain keen on signing the midfield enforcer in January.
The Hammers are yet again having a tough season and are desperate for some reinforcements.
Sporting heavily criticised West Ham, especially their owners, over the way they attempted to sign Carvalho.
Speaking to Sporting TV, Sporting president Bruno de Carvalho said:
Where is it? Proof? Now, approaches, for sure.
I’ve had them for almost the whole squad: West Ham supporters call Mr. David Sullivan and his brother, the Dildo Brothers…
These messengers, these offended virgins, the president of West Ham… We must tell the truth!
Here are the emails which Sporting received from West Ham – not exactly the most professional…
