Cristiano Ronaldo takes to social media to react to Man United’s Aston Villa defeat

Cristiano Ronaldo has this evening taken to Instagram, to provide his reaction to Manchester United’s damaging defeat at the hands of Aston Villa.

Hause downs United

Ronaldo and co. returned to Premier League action this afternoon.

After being dumped out of the EFL Cup by West Ham during the week, the Red Devils welcomed Villa to Old Trafford, aiming to avoid a 3rd defeat in four.

When all was said and done, though, this is precisely what Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men slipped to.

Another concerning display ultimately saw the visitors hold United at bay, before striking decisively late on to secure all three points.

Kortney Hause proved match-winner, breaking free at the front post with 88 minutes on the clock to direct home Douglas Luiz’s whipped corner with a powerful header:

‘Only the beginning…’

The drama at Old Trafford, though, did not end with Hause’s eventual winner.

Remarkably, hosts United were afforded a golden chance to level things up deep into injury-time, when goalscorer Hause’s hand ball in the Villa box saw a penalty awarded.

Despite Cristiano Ronaldo still being on the pitch, Bruno Fernandes stood up to take responsibility, only to direct his effort from 12 yards well clear of Emi Martinez’s crossbar:

The post-match chatter, in turn, was inevitably dominated by questions surrounding why exactly Ronaldo was not the man to stand over the Red Devils’ last-gasp opportunity.

And, as outlined above, this evening, the Portuguese icon himself has taken to social media, to provide his reaction to the late drama in Manchester.

In a post on Instagram, CR7 refused to place any sort of blame at the feet of compatriot Fernandes, instead opting to turn his focus towards the weeks ahead:

This is only the beginning, but in a competition as strong as the Premier League, every point counts! We must react immediately, get back on our feet and show our true strength.
