Cristiano Ronaldo sent off v Real Madrid

Cristiano Ronaldo responds to five-match ban being upheld

Cristiano Ronaldo has angrily reacted to the decision to upheld his five-match ban after pushing the referee in the first leg of the Super Copa final.

The Portuguese star was given the hefty ban following the game against Barcelona, having pushed a referee after being sent off.

Ronaldo was given his marching orders after his first booking came after celebrating with his shirt off and second came for a supposed dive.

That seen Ronaldo sent for an early bath after scoring one and overall dominating the El Clasico as Real Madrid went on to win 3-1.

The red card was Ronaldo’s 10th of his career but this could well have been his fastest, with the two yellow cards coming just two minutes apart.

Real Madrid did choose to appeal the decision but that was swiftly rejected after Los Blancos claimed that Ronaldo’s push was an “uncontrollable reflex”.

That means that the star will miss out on the second leg of the Super Copa against Barcelona this evening.

Not only that, he will miss out on several big La Liga fixtures that could be very important in the side keeping hold of their La Liga title.

Those come in the form of Deportivo, Valencia, Levante and Real Sociedad.

Safe to say, he was not happy when posting on social media.

Ronaldo’s message

Posting on his Instagram, Ronaldo posted a picture of him and the referee with a pretty frustrated caption.

The caption read: “Impossible to be immune to this situation, 5 games !!”

“It seems to me exaggerated and ridiculous, this is called persecution!”

“Thanks to my teammates for the support and the fans !!!”
