Will it be Côte d’Ivoire’s year in Egypt?

Les Éléphants, who’ve qualified for three of the last four World Cups, are looking for more AFCON success.

They won their first title back in 1992 before adding a second in 2015 by beating Ghana 9-8 on penalties.

Will they go all the way once again?

Manager Ibrahim Kamara has numerous familiar faces in his squad.

Spurs’ Serge Aurier, Franck Kessié of Milan, Jean Michaël Seri of Fulham, Crystal Palace’s Wilfried Zaha of and Lille’s young sensation Nicolas Pépé are all going to be key players in this tournament.

Those players are expected to be on the winning side in this one in Cairo.

South Africa will be hoping that is not the case.

Bafana Bafana have been African Champions just once and that was on home soil in 1996.

However, they’ve gone out in the group stages of four of the last five tournaments they’ve participated in.

Stuart Baxter is back in charge of South Africa and hoping to make an impact.

Their star man is striker Percy Tau who spent last season on loan at Royale Union Saint-Gilloise in Belgium from Brighton.

South Africa are a decent side but Côte d’Ivoire are likely to get off to a winning start in this one.
