Côte d’Ivoire vs Algeria live streaming: Match preview

Two African heavyweights go head to head in Suez for a place in the semi-finals.

Côte d’Ivoire had been underwhelming in the group stages; narrowly beating South Africa, losing to Morocco and then dismissing a very week Namibia.

In the round of 16 on Monday, they rode their luck at times and Mali were unfortunate not to be ahead.

However, with 14 minutes to go, Wilfried Zaha tucked home his fourth international goal and that was enough to see Les Éléphants go through.

Ibrahima Kamara’s team are yet to hit top gear in these finals so will have to step it up here.

Algeria meanwhile got nine points out of nine in Group C and have carried that form into the knockout stages.

On Sunday, they took on Guinea in the last 16 and led mid-way through the first half thanks to Youcef Belaïli, who finished off a well worked move.

In the second half, Riyad Mahrez and then Adam Ounas both got on the scoresheet to secure a very comfortable victory.

That result means Djamel Belmadi’s side have scored the most goals (9) and conceded the least (0) at this tournament.

Their four wins out of four so far is their second longest winning run at the competition.

A win here would equal the five in a row they managed in 1990, the only year they’ve won AFCON.

Don’t count out Côte d’Ivoire though.

They won this tournament as recently as 2015 and have won nine of their last 14 knockout matches.

Nevertheless, they’ll have to play much better than they have so far or there will defiantly be North African representation in the last four in Algeria.
