Antonio Conte

Conte asks one thing of his Chelsea players this season

Keep it up

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has called on his side to go on a long winning run, that could well see them end up Premier League winners at the end of the season.

While that might not look like happening at the moment due to the form of Manchester City, Conte is well aware that his side were lingering behind last season until they went on a brilliant run and managed to rack up a huge amount of points, and now after they managed to build on the win against Manchester United before the international break, he thinks they are in a good position to do it again.

The Evening Standard report Conte said: “I hope so [to go on another long winning run] because last season we won 13 games in a row and in this league it’s not simple to have this type of run.

“In every game you have to play with focus and concentration or you risk dropping points. Four wins in a row is good for our confidence, we started the season with many problems but we are slowly starting to find the right solution. I’m very happy with the commitment of my players.

“It doesn’t depend on us because Man City are playing very well and having fantastic results. We have to continue in this way and show this solidity and create many chances to score.

“It was another clean sheet for us and it’s important to find the right balance when you have the ball and when you are without it. Slowly we are changing something from last season.”

Manchester City

Of course, last season there was not a stand out side running away with the league before Chelsea got their act together – whereas this season Manchester City look like a scary prospect for anyone looking at the Premier League and wanting to compete with them.

Conte and the Blues will be aware of this, but also want to put pressure on City, and make sure they do themselves justice in the second third of the season.
