Ireland is a loved up place today.
Having beaten Italy to secure a place in the last 16 of Euro 2016, the Irish fans both at home and out in France went into delirious celebration, and the scenes were truly wonderful to behold.
You had hardman Roy Keane in tears as he was embraced by Italy legend Gigi Buffon, while Keane and Martin O’Neill shared a prolonged warm embrace themselves.
There was also Robbie Brady celebrating his goal with his girlfriend and family in the stands, and he was unable to hold back the tears in his post-match interview.
There was plenty of love on Twitter, too.
UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor ecstatically tweeted his admiration for the Boys in Green at full-time, which included a lovely description of James McClean as ‘an animal.’
A chuffed McClean saw the tweet and retweeted it, before tagging McGregor in a tweet of his own, looking to get a sparring session with the biggest star in Irish MMA.
YEESSSS GET IN THERE!!!!
