Conflicting reports emerge over Man United’s battle with Borussia Dortmund for Jude Bellingham

Speculation surrounding the future of Birmingham City star Jude Bellingham has widely-varied in the English media over the last 24 hours.

Blues prodigy

Bellingham, a 16-year-old midfielder, came up through Birmingham’s youth ranks.

The English youth international had been viewed as one of the finest talents on the books at St. Andrew’s for some time, eventually resulting in Bellingham, despite his tender years, being introduced to the club’s first-team setup ahead of the current campaign.

And to say that the teen has since gone on to impress at senior level would be putting it lightly.

Incredibly, Bellingham has featured in all but 5 of Birmingham’s 37 Championship fixtures to this point in the campaign.

The midfielder has even chipped in with 4 goals and 2 assists across these appearances.

Bellingham future up in the air

As such, Bellingham’s impressive, but above all mature displays at the heart of the Blues’ midfield this season have inevitably resulted in speculation that he has been added to the respective wishlists of a number of not only English football’s giants, but top clubs throughout Europe.

To this point, all of Manchester United, Chelsea, Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich have been named as keen suitors of the midfielder.

It is United and Dortmund, though, who are viewed as the favourites to actually push through a summer deal.

And, as outlined above, the latest reports stemming from the media over the last 24 hours have painted a largely contrasting picture regarding just who is leading the race to land Bellingham.

The Daily Mail and more have run the headline that it is Dortmund who stand as the side most confident of securing an agreement with Birmingham over the coming months.

Despite claims to the contrary, BVB’s plans for Bellingham are not thought to have been derailed by the COVID-19 outbreak, with the Bundesliga outfit labelled as the ‘front-runners’ as things stand.

The Daily Star, on the other hand, last night assured that Manchester United remain ‘in the driving seat’ of all clubs interested in Birmingham’s prized possession.

Bellingham is reported to have been ‘blown away’ by a recent tour of the Red Devils’ Carrington training base, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and co. confident that the teen will soon be lining out at Old Trafford.

Of course, only time will tell just where Bellingham ends up.
