Conflicting claims emerge over Man United move for Swansea’s Daniel James

Conflicting reports regarding a Manchester United swoop for Swansea City star Daniel James have surfaced online this morning.

Swans’ standout

James, a 21-year-old winger, joined Swansea as a raw youngster in 2014, after making his way through the youth ranks of Hull City.

After largely-struggling for game-time during the early years of his stint at the Liberty Stadium, including an unsuccessful loan spell with Shrewsbury in 2017, James has since exploded onto the scene this season.

The wide-man, generally deployed on the left, racked up 4 goals and 7 assists in the Championship, also earning his first two caps at senior level for Wales.

While James possesses a number of impressive attributes, including near-unrivalled directness and the ability to use both feet, none struck the fear of god into opposing full-backs throughout the season like the starlet’s blistering pace:

Old Trafford bound?

As such, it has come as little surprise to see James’ talents lead to links between the Welshman and some of the Premier League’s top sides.

Of the clubs to have been touted as potential destinations, none have been more persistently-linked than Manchester United.

And reports of a Red Devils’ swoop for James moved up a notch this morning, when Sky Sports went as far as to suggest that the Manchester giants were closing on a deal for the Swansea star:

Such claims, though, have since been definitively denied by other sources.

Both Simon Stone and Naveen Ullal have moved to shut down the suggestion that an agreement is all-but in place to send James to Old Trafford:
