Confirmed: Watford announce signing of Ismaila Sarr

Welbeck to Watford

The past two days have been great if you are a Watford fan.

The Hornets announced on Wednesday that they had signed Danny Welbeck on a free transfer.

After suffering an injury in 2018 that kept him out for much of last season, Welbeck left Arsenal on a free transfer this summer.

While he has had his injury troubles, Welbeck should add some firepower to Watford’s attack.

On signing for Watford, Welbeck stated:

“I know some of the boys already and they can’t speak highly enough of the club.

“I used to live in digs with Craig at United and I’ve spoken to Clevz a lot about the club. He said I’d really enjoy it here and thinks it’ll be a great match for me to come here.” As quoted by Watford’s official website.

Watford announce Sarr

Watford’s attack has been further strengthened on Thursday.

With around two hours of the English transfer window left, Watford announced the signing of Ismailia Sarr from Ligue 1 side Rennes.

Sarr had an outstanding 2018/19 season in France, which saw the winger score 13 and assist 11 in 50 games across all competitions.

Watford have announced that Sarr has signed a five-year deal, and is a club-record signing.

While the Hornets haven’t confirmed an exact transfer fee, it is being reported that Watford paid upwards of €30m for Sarr’s services.
