Confirmed: Ruben Loftus-Cheek signs new Chelsea contract

Loftus-Cheek’s time with Chelsea

Ruben Loftus-Cheek is a product of Chelsea’s youth system.

Loftus-Cheek was promoted to the Blues’ senior side in January of 2015, but initially struggled for regular game time.

He was then sent out on loan to Crystal Palace in July of 2017.

Loftus-Cheek would play 25 games for Palace, in which he scored two and assisted five.

This past season would see the now 23-year-old finally given a bit more time in Chelsea’s senior side.

Loftus-Cheek featured 40 times across all competitions throughout 2018/19.

RLC was particularly impressive in the Europa League, scoring four and assisting three in 11 appearances.

RLC pens new deal

Unfortunately, the midfielder is currently injured, after suffering a ruptured Achilles back in April.

While Loftus-Cheek may not be back in time for the start of the 2019/20 PL season, there is still some good news regarding the midfielder.

Chelsea have officially announced on Saturday the 6th of July that Loftus-Cheek has signed a new deal that will keep him at Stamford Bridge until 2024.

On putting pen to paper on his new contract, RLC stated:

“I’m really happy and pleased that I get to stay here for another five years. It’s the place where I’ve grown up playing and hopefully I’ll be playing here for a lot longer.

“At eight or nine years old, of course you never think you’ll be here for so long because you just want to enjoy yourself and play with your friends.

“When I look back and see how the hard work has paid off, it’s a good feeling. That only makes me want to work harder to achieve more in the future.

“I hope to win a lot more trophies with the team and personally it’s just about trying to do as well as I can and work hard to be a key player for Chelsea.” As quoted by Chelsea’s official website.

Goal are claiming that the deal will see Loftus-Cheek earn around £120,000-per-week.
