Confirmed: Leicester star commits long-term future to Brendan Rodgers' men

Leicester City have, on Friday, confirmed that a key member of Brendan Rodgers' squad has put pen to paper on fresh terms with the club.

The player in question? Ricardo Pereira.

Portuguese international Pereira, once viewed as one of the Premier League's finest full-backs, has of course endured a difficult couple of seasons at the King Power Stadium, amid persistent injury troubles.

After marking his first start in over a month in the English top-flight just this past weekend, though, the 28-year-old reminded any doubters of his unquestionable remaining qualities, finding the net amid a fine all-round individual showing at home to high-flying West Ham:

This marked Pereira's 9th start of the Premier League season, with many more no doubt to come as the Portuguese continues to build match fitness.

In turn, it should come as little surprise to hear that, on Friday, those in a position of power at Leicester have rewarded the club's gifted stopper for his ongoing endeavours, courtesy of a new contract.

In a series of posts across social media this afternoon, the Foxes confirmed that Pereira has committed his future to the club, through the summer of 2026:

The former Porto star, meanwhile, has since provided an insight into his decision to pen fresh terms with Brendan Rodgers' men:

Wolves test

Turning attentions back towards the pitch, Leicester will of course be hopeful of building on a much-improved performance just last night, when the Foxes make the trip to Molineux to face off with Bruno Lage's Wolves this coming Sunday.

Rodgers' troops made short work of Danish outfit Randers in the Europa League on Thursday, eventually emerging on the right side of a 4-1 triumph courtesy of goals from all of Wilfred Ndidi, Harvey Barnes, Patson Daka and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

Back on the domestic front, though, Leicester remain winless in five, making a victory at Molineux on Sunday of the utmost importance amid the club's efforts to mount a late-season push for the Premier League's European spots.
