Confirmed: Brandon Williams commits future to Manchester United

Manchester United have this evening confirmed that youngster Brandon Williams has put pen-to-paper on a new contract with the club.

United starlet

Williams, a 19-year-old stopper, has exploded onto the scene at Old Trafford this season.

Having long been considered one of the most promising youngsters on the books of United, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s youth drive saw Williams handed the chance to impress as part of the club’s first-team squad at the beginning of the campaign.

And to say that the teen has since gone on to take full advantage of the opportunity afforded to him would be putting it lightly.

Williams has not looked at all out of place amongst Solskjaer’s senior panel, with the English U20 international possessing the poise and composure of a player far beyond his years.

Such traits have seen Williams go on to rack up an impressive 34 appearances across all competitions this season, including starts in a number of key fixtures across United’s run-in.

Williams tied down

And, as outlined above, Solskjaer’s faith in Williams’ ability to hold his own up against the Premier League’s elite has today seen the youngster rewarded.

In an official announcement across the club’s website and social media platforms a short time ago, Manchester United confirmed that their gifted full-back has been handed a new contract.

Williams has put pen-to-paper on a deal that will see him through to 2024 at Old Trafford.

United also hold the option to extend the terms for a further year:

Speaking on the back of inking his new deal, Williams explained:

Signing this contract is another really proud moment for myself and my family. Having been at Manchester United since I was seven years old, it’s genuinely a dream come true to be playing in the first team. It has taken a huge amount of hard work to reach this point and it has been really special for me to break through into the squad.

I’ve learned a lot throughout the season from the manager, his coaching staff and my team-mates and I want to repay the trust that they have all shown in me. I know that everyone at the club is working really hard every day to achieve success in the coming years and I am really excited to be a part of that.
