Claude Puel gives Leicester injury update ahead of Southampton

Leicester vs Southampton

Leicester City host Southampton on Saturday as they continue to fight for a Europa League spot.

The Foxes have had a solid start to the season and after 21 games sit 7th in the Premier League with 31 points.

Leicester have also picked up some notable wins this season against the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City.

However, Claude Puel’s side are just three points behind 10th place West Ham. So, they need to continue their good form if they want to finish the season with European football.

As for Southampton, they head into the weekend’s game 18th in the league, two points from safety.

The Saints did have a small resurgence under new boss Ralph Hasenhuttl when he first took over.

But Southampton have now failed to win any of their last three league games, losing two and drawing one.

A win for Southampton could see them move as high as 15th in the table.

Leicester injury update

Ahead of the Southampton clash Claude Puel has provided an injury update on his players.

Jonny Evans played the full 90 minutes of Leicester’s last match as they lost 2-1 to Newport County in the FA Cup.

However, Puel has since revealed Evans has suffered a broken two.

Luckily for Leicester fans, with the exception of Daniel Amartey who is a long term absentee, the Foxes have no other problems.

On Evan’s expected recovery time Puel had this to say:

“We will try to manage for a few weeks. He needs to have 45 days’ recovery but I hope we can use him earlier.”
