As per reports in the German media this evening, in-demand Bayer Leverkusen star Leon Bailey has his heart set on a move to Premier League champions Chelsea.
Bailey, a 20-year-old Jamaican winger, only made the move to the BayArena in January of last year for a fee of 20 million Euro, following links with the likes of Barcelona and Manchester United.
The pacy starlet caught the eye with his performances in the Europa League for Belgian outfit Genk last season, and has racked up 10 goals and 5 assists in 20 domestic appearances to this point in the campaign with Leverkusen (15 starts).
However, despite being just 5 months into his first full season in the Bundesliga, Bailey has already been heavily linked with a departure from Germany, with a number of Europe’s biggest clubs known to maintain an interest in his services.
Reports stemming from England last month claimed that Chelsea had emerged as the leading contenders for his signature, with the Daily Mail even going as far as to suggest that the Blues had seen a 25 million Euro offer rejected by Leverkusen.
And, as per a further update stemming from Germany via reliable outlet Kicker this evening, it is now being claimed that Chelsea are indeed the clear favourites to clinch a deal for Bailey, due to the player’s ‘dream’ of making a move to Stamford Bridge.
Bailey recently admitted that he does have a ‘favourite side’, but refused to reveal the identity of the club in question.
But Kicker ensure that the gifted Jamaican is in fact an avid Chelsea fan, with the recent reemergence of the following photo having done little to suggest otherwise:
