Pep Guardiola on protection for Man City’s players
One of the issues which has focused attentions in recent weeks is fouls in English football.
After Man City’s German winger Leroy Sane was sidelined for six weeks at Cardiff, Pep Guardiola complained publicly.
Guardiola announced that “the only thing they [the officials] have to do is protect the players.” The Man City boss went on the state:
Please protect the players. Not the Manchester City players, [all] the players. The only thing they can do is that: protect the players. Or it will happen again.
The players are the artists and you have to take care of them. That’s why you are here and why I’m here. For them, the players.
Man United’s Alexis Sanchez is being kicked all the time
On Monday in the Daily Mail, Jamie Redknapp has focused on Man United’s newest signing Alexis Sanchez.
Sanchez was on target on Saturday in a 2-0 win over Huddersfield.
The Chilean opened his Man United account with a rebound after his initial penalty was saved.
Yet, according to Redknapp, Sanchez is being treated badly since he’s become a Red Devil. And the pundit has the stats to back up his claim:
Alexis Sanchez is only three games into his Manchester United career but has already been fouled 15 times. When you take into account his time on the pitch, that works out as a foul every 17 minutes.
Players are not going out to kick Sanchez because he earns £600,000 a week. It is simply because nobody can get near enough to get the ball off him!
The Daily Mail have also produced a graphic of the Premier League’s most fouled players.
