Smalling striken by food poisoning?
Chris Smalling’s holiday in Indonesia has been anything but the r’n’r he would have been hoping for after England’s shock Euro 2016 elimination at the hands of Iceland.
The Manchester United defender has been pictured in a Bali hospital looking rather the worse for wear, after apparently suffering a bout of food poisoning.
That’s the official version of events United have given on their website, but the picture of Smalling covered in bandages would suggest otherwise.
And now another picture of Smalling has emerged which really doesn’t tally with United’s food poisoning story.
The picture shows Smalling covered in gashes, and looking like he sustained a serious head injury.
Jellyfish and Surfing?
How could food poisoning have done so much damage?
The more likely story is the version doing the rounds, which claims Smalling hit his head after being stung by a jellyfish while surfing.
Whatever the real story, here’s hoping Smalling makes a speedy and full recovery!
Smalling obviously not being treated for food poisoning here but he was said to have fainted. Could've hit his head. pic.twitter.com/jtAWrjbn1C
