Chelsea’s hammering of Juventus marred by double injury blow

Chelsea picked up a huge win over Juventus on Tuesday evening, but it came at a pretty large price with two key players injured during the game.

Chelsea vs Juventus

Chelsea and Juventus went head-to-head on Tuesday evening in a Champions League clash.

After the Turin-based outfit saw off Chelsea by one goal to nil in the previous clash between the two sides, fans of the Blues were likely expecting a close game this week.

However, what transpired was anything but. Chelsea would dominate for much of the first 45 and opened the scoring after 25 minutes via Trevoh Chalobah:

Then, despite losing N’Golo Kante late in the first half, Thomas Tuchel’s men came out firing on all cylinders for the second half.

Reece James produced an absolutely stunning strike 56 minutes in to make it 2-0.

Then, just two minutes later, substitute Ruben Loftus-Cheek played it to Callum Hudson-Odoi who made it 3-0 on the night to kill the game off and ensure Chelsea would come away with three points.

Ben Chilwell becomes second casualty

However, a very positive evening for Chelsea was marred by two separate injury blows.

As mentioned above, N’Golo Kante would be taken off in the first half with an injury.

Then, midway through the second half, Ben Chilwell went down in pain before hobbling off the pitch.

With a big game vs Manchester United this weekend, Chelsea are no doubt hopeful both injuries are not too serious.
