Chelsea boss Lampard tips Tottenham duo to break he and Drogba’s goal record

Chelsea vs Tottenham

Sunday’s marquee Premier League fixture will see Chelsea play host to Tottenham.

The clash, of course, pits Jose Mourinho and Frank Lampard against one another, in a master vs apprentice-style battle.

It will also, though, see two of English football’s in-form sides face off.

Tottenham headed into this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting top of the Premier League table, in possession of the best-performing defence in the division.

Chelsea, meanwhile, started Saturday in 3rd, boasting the best attack in the English top-flight.

Lampard on Kane & Son

Ahead of Sunday’s tie, Frank Lampard has opened up on some of Tottenham’s standout attacking talents.

Both Harry Kane and Heung-min Son have enjoyed superb starts to the season, notching a staggering 27 combined goal contributions in nine outings.

The Spurs duo are also making history, and after combining for the only goal of the game vs Burnley back in October, became the second-best duo in Premier League history when it comes to combined goals/assists.

The only pair now above Kane and Son are actually Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba.

As such, ahead of his side facing off with one of English football’s most lethal pairings, Lampard was inevitably drawn on Kane and Son’s threat to his record:

“They are certainly a threat to the record, they are going to beat that comfortably the way they are going and fair play.

“I have got no qualms with that, that record is something that me and Didier are proud of to a degree but it is football and it moves on and players of their level will always test that.

“I am aware of their threats, you look at their numbers that they are producing, their link-up play is clear and fair play to them. Getting the coach and the way they work, it is something we have to be aware of and as a team, beyond that, it is a big strength of theirs.
