Chelsea’s Billy Gilmour explains what part of Cesc Fabregas’ game he wants to add to his own
Chelsea’s Billy Gilmour has recently been speaking about Cesc Fabregas, and what aspect of the Spaniard’s game he would like to add to his own.
Gilmour’s Chelsea stint
2019/20 of course proved Billy Gilmour’s breakout season.
The young midfielder was just one of countless academy stars to have been handed the opportunity to impress by Frank Lampard.
And Gilmour went on to grasp his chance with both hands, putting on some starring displays vs the likes of Liverpool and Everton.
However, the Scot suffered an injury late last season, which subsequently saw him miss both Chelsea’s run-in, and opening to the new campaign.

Gilmour on Cesc Fabregas
Gilmour, though, has since returned to fitness, and is slowly being reintegrated into the Blues’ first-team setup.
The midfielder has now featured five times for Chelsea’s senior side this term, the latest of which saw him complete 90 minutes vs Morecambe in the FA Cup 3rd round over the weekend.
And, with N’Golo Kante suspended for the Londoners’ upcoming meeting with Fulham, Gilmour could well be handed another chance to shine this weekend.
Ahead of the derby clash, meanwhile, the Scotsman recently opened up on former Chelsea standout Cesc Fabregas.
Gilmour was quick to heap praise on the Spaniard, whilst also revealing which aspect of Fabregas’ game he would like to add to his own moving forward:
“When I was watching Cesc, it was all about his forward passes to the striker, whether that was a lofted pass, a clipped ball or just a simple through ball.
“He was one of the best at doing that, especially at Chelsea, and I want to add that more to my own game, but it comes first of all from being aware of what’s around you.
“He speaks a lot about the boys because he obviously used to be here but it’s always nice seeing a top midfielder like that comment on your game.”
