Chelsea’s Alvaro Morata was superb v Liechtenstein (Video)

Liechtenstein 0 – Spain 8

Spain haven’t yet sealed their qualification for the 2018 World Cup, but they are close.

It’s been an excellent international break for Spain as they chalked up back to back wins over Italy and Liechtenstein.

Indeed, La Roja scored 11 goals in their past two matches while conceding zero.

On Tuesday night, in a match of men against boys, Spain destroyed minnows Liechtenstein in an 8-0 thrashing.

Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata scored twice in the Liechtenstein game.

Morata is now the top goalscorer for Spain in their World Cup qualifying campaign.

The Chelsea new boy has five goals along with Diego Costa and Man City’s David Silva.

Chelsea’s Alvaro Morata

Morata could have scored a hat-trick had a perfectly legal header not been ruled out for offside.

After Sergio Ramos headed Spain into a third minute lead, Chelsea striker Morata doubled the advantage on the quarter hour mark. Morata headed home across from Andres Iniesta.

One minute later Morata turned provided. He capitalised on a terrible mistake from the Liechtenstein goalie to tee up Isco for a simple goal.

Morata doubled his tally ten minutes after the restart after he was set up by Iago Aspas.

Looking at the bigger picture, Alvaro Morata has now scored 5 goals in his last 5 games for club and country this season.

He’s also chalked up four assists in that period too.

Leicester v Chelsea

Chelsea return to Premier League action on Saturday with a tricky test away at Leicester.

After losing to Burnley in the first game of the season, Chelsea have rebounded with wins against Tottenham and Everton.

Leicester, meanwhile, are 15th with one win and two defeats on the board.

Chelsea will continue to be without defender Gary Cahill as he completes his three match suspension.

Danny Drinkwater could make his Chelsea debut against the Foxes, having completed his exit from Leicester on deadline day.

As for Leicester, they are still without summer signing Vicente Iborra. Robert Huth is also a doubt with a foot injury.
