Sarri wants Hysaj to replace Zappacosta
According to the Evening Standard, Italian outfit Lazio are close to signing Chelsea’s Davide Zappacosta on loan this January with a view to making the deal permanent in the summer.
Zappacosta has played 45 games for Chelsea since his move from Torino in 2017.
In those 45 games, the full-back has scored two and assisted four.
However, Zappacosta has never been able to hold down a regular starting spot at Chelsea.
New Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri is also said to be not to keen on the Italian, hence the loan move to Lazio.
However, Sarri is keen to replace the outgoing Zappacosta with one of his former players, Elseid Hysaj.
Elseid Hysaj joined Napoli in August of 2015 from Serie A side Empoli for a fee in the region of £4.5 million.

Chelsea were reportedly interested in signing the Napoli full-back in the summer with Hysaj’s agent not ruling out further negotiations in January.
“I can’t rule out resuming negotiations with Chelsea in January.
“We know there was contact in the summer because Sarri wanted him. And we also know that [Davide] Zappacosta is not to the liking of the Coach.”
Marco Alonso angers Chelsea fans vs Tottenham
While Hysaj could be signed to replace Zappacosta, he could also be brought in to replace Marcos Alonso at left-back.
Hysaj is naturally a right-back but he has played 90 games as a left-back throughout his career.
Marcos Alonso had a decent start to the season providing a great attacking threat down the left hand side.
However, Alonso’s defensive work has been somewhat questionable throughout the season and now even his attacking threat has diminished.
Chelsea lost 1-0 to Tottenham on Tuesday with several Chelsea fans taking aim at Alonso’s poor display via Twitter.
