Chelsea vs Wolves betting tips: Premier League match preview & predictions

Chelsea vs Wolves prediction: Chelsea 1-0 Wolves

Chelsea will be looking to make it four wins on the spin and atone for their surprise defeat at Wolves earlier in the season.

Wolves’ away matches this season have generally been very low scoring, while Chelsea tend to keep things tight at the back at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea have won all four previous home Premier League matches against Wolves.

Chelsea vs Wolves: Who will win?

Chelsea are 8/15 favourites to win on Sunday. Wolves are priced at 6/1 to complete the double over the Blues. The draw can be backed at 10/3.

Gonzalo Higuain has scored three goals since moving to Chelsea in January, including one goal in last weekend’s win at Fulham. Higuain is the favourite to open the scoring at 7/2 and is 1/1 to score anytime during the match.

Chelsea have only conceded nine Premier League goals at home this season, a record only bettered by Liverpool. Bet against both teams scoring at 10/11.

Chelsea vs Wolves Premier League match preview

Top-four hopefuls Chelsea host Wolves at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

Chelsea put one foot in the quarter-finals of the Europa League after they beat Dynamo Kiev 3-0 in London on Thursday night.

Pedro, Willian and Callum Hudson-Odoi were on the scoresheet for Maurizio Sarri’s side.

Chelsea kept their top four hopes alive with a 2-1 win at Fulham last weekend. Higuain and Jorginho were on target for the Blues.

Chelsea begin the weekend on 56 points, one behind Arsenal and two behind Manchester United. Chelsea have an opportunity to make up ground on at least one of those two clubs as they face each other on Sunday evening.

Wolves are 7th in the table, just one position behind Chelsea. However, the 13-point gap between the two sides is the largest in the table.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side suffered a 1-0 defeat to bottom side Huddersfield Town in their last away match.

Last weekend Wolves returned to winning ways. They beat Cardiff City 2-0 at Molineux, despite a number of key players being left out.

The two sides have met nine times in Premier League history and have never drawn in the competition. Chelsea have 7 wins to Wolves’ 2.

Chelsea lost the reverse fixture 2-1 in December, despite taking the lead through Ruben Loftus-Cheek. Second half goals from Raul Jimenez and Diogo Jota turned the game around for Santo’s side.

Chelsea team news vs Wolves

Maurizio Sarri has no injury concerns ahead of Sunday’s match, although some players may be fatigued following Thursday’s match.

Eden Hazard, Gonzalo Higuain and N’Golo Kante were among those to be given a rest in midweek.

Emerson could keep his place at left-back ahead of Marcos Alonso, while Ross Barkley may be preferred to Matteo Kovacic.

Willian and Pedro will do battle for a spot out wide.

Kepa Arrizabalaga is set to start in goal again as the club look to put the EFL Cup final saga behind them.

Wolves team news vs Chelsea

Wolves made five changes in their last Premier League outing, with Matt Doherty, Ruben Neves, Joao Moutinho and Jonny all dropping out of the starting eleven. The quartet are expected to start at the Bridge.

Santo confirmed that Diego Jota’s early switch last weekend was a tactical one and that the Portuguese attacker is not injured.

Ryan Bennett will serve a two-game suspension after collecting his tenth caution of the campaign.

As he did last weekend, backup goalkeeper John Ruddy could start in goal. Santo is giving the former England goalkeeper much-needed game time ahead of Wolves’ upcoming FA Cup clash against Manchester United.
