Chelsea vs West Ham betting tips: Premier League match preview & predictions

Chelsea vs West Ham prediction: Chelsea 2-0 West Ham

A win for Chelsea would see them move back into the top four, at least temporarily. The Blues have failed to beat West Ham in their last three Premier League meetings.

West Ham have won four and drawn one of their last five Premier League London derbies.

Chelsea are unbeaten in their last six league matches at Stamford Bridge, while West Ham have failed to win any of their last seven matches on the road.

Chelsea vs West Ham: Who will win?

Chelsea are 1/3 favourites to win on Monday night while West Ham can be backed at 17/2. The draw is priced at 19/4.

No team has conceded fewer goals at home this season than Chelsea (10). Bet against both teams scoring at 10/11.

Javier Hernandez loves to score against Chelsea. A goal for Chicharito on Monday would see him become only the fifth player in history to score in five consecutive Premier League away matches against the same opponent.

Although a Chelsea clean sheet seems likely, Hernandez is very well priced at 12/1 to open the scoring and 7/2 to score anytime.

Chelsea vs West Ham Premier League match preview

Chelsea host London rivals West Ham United at Stamford Bridge on Monday night.

With six games remaining, West Ham definitely won’t be involved in any last-minute relegation scraps. Instead, the Hammers are aiming for a respectable top-half finish.

Manuel Pellegrini’s side are 11th in the table on 42 points, but a win on Monday could propel them to within a point of Watford in 8th.

West Ham were extremely poor in their 2-0 defeat at home to West Ham at the end of March. The Hammers will need to improve dramatically if they are to take points from the Bridge.

Chelsea have a lot more to play for than their opponents as they look to revive their top four aspirations.

Chelsea moved above Manchester United into fifth with a convincing 3-0 home win over Brighton on Wednesday. Olivier Giroud opened the scoring for Chelsea in the first half before (identical) goals from Eden Hazard and Ruben Loftus-Cheek wrapped up the game after the hour-mark.

Chelsea and West Ham have met 45 times in Premier League history, with Chelsea winning on 24 occasions to West Ham’s 12.

West Ham became the first team to keep a clean sheet against Chelsea this season when the sides played out a 0-0 draw at the London Stadium in September’s reverse fixture.

Chelsea team news vs West Ham

Maurizio Sarri will likely have one eye on Thursday’s Europa League clash against Slavia Praha when selecting Monday’s starting eleven.

The Blues travel to Prague for the first leg of their quarter-final tie just three days after the West Ham game.

Despite scoring against Brighton, Olivier Giroud could be replaced in the starting line-up by Gonzalo Higuain.

Callum Hudson-Odoi impressed in his first ever Premier League start last time out, but the youngster may have to settle for a spot on the bench on Monday.

Marcos Alonso has recovered from a hamstring injury and should return to the matchday squad. The Spaniard could be spared for Thursday, in which case Emerson will continue at left-back.

Pedro is also expected to be available after a muscle problem kept him out in midweek.

Andreas Christensen was handed a rare start on Wednesday but is likely to drop back to the bench. Cesar Azpilicueta was subbed off for the final 20 minutes against the Seagulls but should start again at right-back.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek will battle it out with Ross Barkley for a spot in Chelsea’s midfield three. Real Madrid loanee Matteo Kovacic seems to have fallen down the pecking order in recent weeks.

Ethan Ampadu remains sidelined with a lower back injury.

West Ham team news vs Chelsea

West Ham could benefit from a longer recovery period as they were not involved in midweek.

Manuel Pellegrini confirmed that Andy Carroll, Carlos Sanchez, Andriy Yarmolenko, Jack Wilshere and Winston Reid are still sidelined through injury.

His comments would suggest that Ryan Fredericks, Samir Nasri and Felipe Anderson are available for selection.

Marko Arnautovic also comes back into contention, but his poor run of form will likely see Javier Hernandez lead the line. Hernandez has scored four goals in his last seven appearances for club and country.

Declan Rice and Mark Noble will sit in front of the usual back four.

Michail Antonio could start out wide, with Grady Diangana and Robert Snodgrass providing backup options.
