Chelsea vs Watford betting tips: Premier League match preview & predictions

Chelsea vs Watford prediction: Chelsea 2-2 Watford

Top-four hopefuls Chelsea have the fourth-best home record in the league this season and the joint-second best home defensive record.

The Blues are out of form, however, and are looking for their first win in four Premier League matches.

Watford have a good recent record against Chelsea, having scored more Premier League goals against the Blues in the last four seasons than against any other side (13).

Chelsea vs Watford: Who will win?

Chelsea are 2/5 favourites to win on Sunday while a Watford win is priced at 7/1. The draw can be backed at 17/4.

Watford have scored in nine of their last 10 matches in all competitions. Bet on both teams to score at 10/11.

Gerard Deulofeu is on 11 goals for the season and scored a brace on Watford’s last away outing. Deulofeu is 14/1 to open the scoring and 4/1 to score anytime.

Chelsea vs Watford Premier League match preview

Chelsea host Watford at Stamford Bridge on Sunday for their final home match of the Premier League season.

The Blues drew 1-1 against Manchester United last weekend. After going behind, Chelsea equalised through Marcos Alonso who capitalised on a mistake from David De Gea.

Chelsea’s point at Old Trafford, coupled with Arsenal’s heavy defeat at Leicester, means that the Blues’ top four hopes are back in their own hands. Tottenham’s defeat at Bournemouth has given Chelsea even more encouragement for a top three finish.

If Chelsea win their final two matches they will finish third and play Champions League football next season.

If Chelsea fail to win their final two matches, and Arsenal do, then the Gunners will pip Chelsea to a top four finish. Chelsea’s final league match of the season is away to Leicester.

The permutations are made even more interesting by the fact that both Chelsea and Arsenal are still in the Europa League – the winner of which is automatically entered into the Champions League.

Chelsea drew 1-1 in the first leg of their Europa League semi-final tie against Eintracht Frankfurt on Thursday. Pedro Rodriguez scored the crucial away goal for Maurizio Sarri’s side. The second leg of the tie takes place this Thursday at Stamford Bridge.

Watford are 10th in the table following last weekend’s 2-1 home defeat to Wolves. Andre Gray scored for the second match in a row. Javi Gracia’s side are four points behind Wolves and could still finish in a European place themselves.

Watford have a better away record this season than Wolves, Arsenal and Everton.

Chelsea and Watford have met 11 times previously in the Premier League. Chelsea have won seven and lost two.

Chelsea won the reverse fixture 2-1 at Vicarage Road in December. Eden Hazard scored twice, with the winner coming from the penalty spot. Roberto Pereyra had equalised for Watford at the end of the first half.
