Chelsea vs Burnley betting tips: Premier League match preview & predictions

Chelsea vs Burnley prediction: Chelsea 2-0 Burnley

Chelsea have lost five of their last 10 Premier League matches but still find themselves inside the top four, five points clear of fifth.

Burnley come into the match on the back of three consecutive league defeats. They do, however, have a decent recent record away to Chelsea, avoiding defeat in three of their last four outings to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea have scored at least two goals in each of their last five matches against Burnley in all competitions.

Chelsea vs Burnley: Who will win?

Chelsea have only lost one of their last 12 matches against Burnley. Chelsea are 2/7 favourites to win the match while Burnley are 9/1 to win. The draw is priced at 19/4.

There have been fewer than three goals scored in six of Chelsea’s last seven Premier League matches at Stamford Bridge. Bet on under 2.5 goals at 6/5.

Tammy Abraham will lead the Chelsea attack after being rested entirely at the weekend. Abraham is 12/5 to open the scoring and 8/13 to score anytime.

Chelsea vs Burnley Premier League match preview

Chelsea host Burnley at Stamford Bridge in Gameweek 22 of the Premier League season.

The Blues progressed to the fourth round of the FA Cup with a comfortable 2-0 home win over Championship side Nottingham Forest. Callum Hudson-Odoi opened the scoring early on. Ross Barkley doubled Chelsea’s lead before half-time.

Chelsea were held to a 1-1 draw at Brighton in their last Premier League match. They have also lost both of their last two home league matches 2-0.

Burnley also progressed to the next round of the Cup after beating League One side Peterborough United 4-2 at Turf Moor on Saturday. Jay Rodriguez (2), Erik Pieters and Jeff Hendrick scored for the home side.

Burnley dropping down the table

Burnley’s poor form in the league has seen them drop to 15th, just four points above the relegation zone. Burnley lost 2-1 at home to Aston Villa in their last Premier League match. Chris Wood scored the side’s consolation goal.

Chelsea have won four and drawn two of their 10 home league matches this season, ranking them 14th in the division. Only two sides have scored fewer goals at home than Chelsea’s 10.

Saturday’s game will be the 12th Premier League meeting between the two sides. Chelsea have won seven and drawn three of their 11 matches against the Clarets.

Chelsea were 4-2 winners at Turf Moor when the sides met in October. A hat-trick from Christian Pulisic and another from Willian had Chelsea four up before the hour-mark. Burnely pulled two back in the final five minutes but it was a case of too little, too late.

Chelsea team news vs Burnley

Frank Lampard rotated fairly heavily against Nottingham Forest and could recall some of his fresher players. Cesar Azpilicueta, Antonio Rudiger and Willian were among the unused substitutes, while Mason Mount made a brief appearance off the bench against the Championship side.

Callum Hudson-Odoi will be hoping to keep his place in the starting eleven following an impressive display in the cup.

Christian Pulisic is a doubt after picking up an injury in training.

Marcos Alonso has a glute muscle injury and is expected to miss out while Ruben Loftus-Cheek is a long-term injury absentee.

Burnley team news vs Chelsea

Ashley Barnes has a muscle problem and is doubtful for the match.

Chris Wood had a tight hamstring against Peterborough and was taken off as a precaution. The New Zealand striker is expected to be okay for Saturday and should start if Barnes is unavailable.

Former Chelsea youth player Johann Berg Gudmundsson picked up a hamstring injury against Aston Villa and will sit this one out.

Sean Dyche confirmed that Aaron Lennon is also available after he suffered from cramp in the same match. Dwight McNeil also comes back into contention after recovering from a knock.

Ben Gibson has recovered from a groin injury and could be involved if he passes a late fitness test.

Late calls will be made over Phil Bardsley and Jay Rodriguez who have both been ill recently.

Nick Pope should return in goal after being rested in the FA Cup. Jack Cork is expected to start in midfield against his old club.
