Chelsea v West Brom: Premier League preview
Chelsea host West Brom on Sunday, looking to make it nine Premier League wins out of nine.
The Blues head into the weekend as league leaders, three points above second-place Arsenal who play on Saturday.
The Gunners took top spot on goals scored thanks to their win over Stoke. Chelsea will reclaim ownership of first with at minimum a draw.
On Friday, manager Antonio Conte was awarded the Premier League’s Manager of the Month Award for the second consecutive month.
Diego Costa bagged the Player award while teammate Pedro won the Goal of the Month for his strike against Spurs.
Last weekend, Conte’s side beat Man City 3-1 at the Etihad, with goals from Diego Costa, Willian and Eden Hazard.
Costa is the league’s joint-top scorer on 11 goals, tied with Alexis Sanchez.
Chelsea will face an in-form Baggies side on Sunday. Tony Pulis’ men have taken 10 points from a possible twelve, pushing them up to seventh in the table.
West Brom won 3-1 at home to Watford last weekend; Jonny Evans, Chris Brunt and Matty Phillips scored the goals.
Nemanja Matic should return for the home side after missing last weekend’s trip to Manchester. The Serb is set to be preferred to Cesc Fabregas in midfield.
Conte confirmed that Pedro and Costa are both available following reports that the duo were injured.
John Terry is still recovering from injury while Oscar will miss out through illness.
James Morrison is a doubt for the Baggies with a knock, which could see Nacer Chadli handed a start.
Gareth McAuley did not train on Thursday or Friday and could miss out.
Striker Saido Berahino’s mind is “the best it’s been for a long time” according to Tony Pulis, but he won’t just “chuck” him into the starting eleven.
