Thibaut Courtois

Chelsea urged to allow Thibaut Courtois to leave and make ‘human decision’

 Human

Chelsea player Thibaut Courtois has made no secret of his desire to leave the club this summer, but now his agent has doubled down on those claims and said the player must be allowed to leave.

He’s urged Chelsea to accept a bid from Real Madrid for Courtois, as the goalkeeper wants to be near his young kids, who live in Madrid with one of his former partners.

His agent verged on emotional blackmail when he called out Chelsea, and said that the Blues need to act accordingly.

He said to the Sun:“I have been reading everywhere that Chelsea are saying it is up to Thibaut, but he has made it clear to the club that the best option for him is to move to Madrid.

“For him this is a big decision because he wants to be near his family, and there is an offer in place for Chelsea to accept.”

“It is understandable people might be upset because he wants to leave the club, we accept that.

“But this is a human decision based on someone wanting to be close to his children – and that is a reasonable thing too.”

Of course, Chelsea could play hardball and keep the stopper, so he eventually leaves on a free, but that may not be the case and if they do allow him to leave, Maurizio Sarri will obviously want to see a replacement come in.

The options aren’t huge in terms of world class stoppers who are available this summer, but it seems Chelsea could go after Kasper Schmeichel if they do allow Courtois to leave.

That would be a good option, considering Jan Oblak isn’t for sale and Liverpool have of course landed Alisson Becker in the deal of the summer.
