Serie A outfit Inter Milan have this afternoon confirmed the loan signing of Portuguese defender Joao Cancelo from Valencia.
Cancelo, a 23-year-old right-back, has been plying his trade at the Mestalla since arriving from Benfica in 2015.
A pacy full-back who gets forward at will, Cancelo has long been lauded for his attacking instincts (he has scored 3 goals in 5 appearances for Portugal), though many regular viewers of Valencia over the past two seasons have questioned his defensive abilities.
Nevertheless, he is viewed as possessing all of the necessary traits to establish himself as a top-class defender over the coming years.
All of Juventus, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and Barcelona have been heavily linked with moves for Cancelo this summer, though the aforementioned quartet have officially missed out, with Inter Milan confirming the capture of the defender via the club’s social media channels this evening:
