Chelsea to torpedo Man United’s Ivan Perisic deal

Chelsea v Man United

Football fans only have a week and a half to wait until the start of the new Premier League season, and the pressure is ramping up on a daily basis for club’s to complete their summer recruitment plans.

At Man United, Jose Mourinho has brought in three players already: Victor Lindelof, Romelu Lukaku and most recently Nemanja Matic from Chelsea.

As for the Blues, amid claims that Antonio Conte is frustrated at Stamford Bridge with the club’s activity in the summer market, Alvaro Morata, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Antonio Rugider are the big named signings so far this off-season.

On Wednesday, the Mirror throw a spanner in the works of another long-mooted summer deal – Ivan Perisic’s move to Man United – claiming that Chelsea could be about to tank the deal.

What’s the story?

Rather than suggesting that Chelsea will try to hijack Man United’s move for the Inter Milan winger, the Mirror claim Inter may block the Perisici deal after offloading another player to the Blues. Readers are told:

Manchester United’s move for Ivan Perisic could be scuppered by Inter Milan selling Antonio Candreva to Chelsea, according to reports in Italy.

Italian outlet Mediaset Premium also reported that Inter are looking to bring in Keita Balde Diao as a replacement for the 30-year-old.

Will Candreva move?

At 30-years-old, some may wonder why Chelsea are looking to sign Candreva.

Candreva, an experienced Italian international, joined the Nerazzurri from fellow Italian top-flight outfit Lazio last summer for a fee in the region of 22 million euros.

He went on to appear in all 38 of the San Siro side’s Serie A outings last season, notching 6 goals and 10 assists in the process.

Candreva is under contract at the San Siro until 2020.
