Injured Terry

Antonio Conte will have to swallow further bad news ahead of Chelsea’s match against Hull. The Times report that John Terry is set to miss the Saturday afternoon fixture. The Chelsea captain has been out of action for the last two Premier League games, which they lost to Liverpool and Arsenal respectively. They also conceded two goals in a League Cup win over Leicester.

Their reliance on the 35-year-old centre-half is worrying but his absence is even more of a reason for Chelsea to sweat. Terry was present for their opening three victories in the Premier League this season. He went off injured towards the end of their 2-2 draw at Swansea on September 11. He’s been training with the team this week but his ankle still isn’t fully recovered.

Weak links

David Luiz might be identified as a scapegoat for Chelsea’s poor form. Their dismal run started after he returned to the club. However, the Brazilian has been solid.

It’s Gary Cahill and Branislav Ivanovic who have been particularly poor.
