Chelsea star singled out for criticism after poor first half vs Brighton
Brighton vs Chelsea
Chelsea are currently locked in Premier League action with Graham Potter’s Brighton.
The Blues headed into the game knowing that their Premier League title hopes are all but over for the current campaign.
However, after a dip in form which saw them win just one in five league games, Thomas Tuchel’s side are in danger of slipping into the scrap for 4th place, with Manchester United and Tottenham hot on the Londoners’ heels due to their games in hand.
As a result, Chelsea couldn’t really afford a slip-up this evening vs Brighton.
Lukaku targeted
However, Thomas Tuchel’s side really did not start Tuesday’s game well.
The Blues were lucky not to concede, struggled to retain possession of the ball and, as has become a common theme of late, offered very little going forward.
Despite this, Chelsea were still able to take the lead shortly before the half-hour mark when a Hakim Ziyech effort squeezed into the bottom corner of Robert Sanchez’s net.
Despite leading the tie, though, one Chelsea star has still been singled out for criticism after a poor first 45 vs Brighton.
The player in question is Romelu Lukaku who is putting on another dismal display to follow on from his poor showing vs Manchester City at the weekend.
Just some of the criticism levelled at Lukaku on Tuesday can be seen below:
