Michy Batshuayi

‘Batsman’ returns to social media in brilliant fashion following Chelsea brace

Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi has today made his return to social media after netting a late brace for the Blues versus Watford.

PL Matchup

The two sides went head to head in a Premier League clash at Stamford Bridge, with the visitors having proven the surprise package of the English top-flight so far this season.

Marco Silva’s men had picked up 15 points from their first 8 fixtures, leaving them in 4th, 2 points and one spot ahead of champions Chelsea.

Back and forth

The Hornets started out proceedings in impressive fashion once again today, keeping control of the ball and looking slick and dangerous in possession.

However, the Blues soon made their way back into things, with the power and quality of Antonio Conte’s side on full display.

Eden Hazard, who received yet another start in his return from injury, looked hugely impressive from the off, and it was the diminutive Belgian who set up his side’s opener.

After a poor decision from the linesman saw Chelsea awarded a corner, Hazard took the set-piece short, before pulling the ball back to Pedro 25 yards out.

And the former Barcelona man made no mistake with his effort, whipping the most sumptuous of efforts across the face of goal and in off the far post.

However, just when things looked to be going in the right direction for the champions, Watford turned the game on its head.

First, a pinpoint strike from Abdoulaye Doucouré on the stroke of half-time sucked the positive air out of Stamford Bridge, before concerted pressure from the away side to begin the second 45 resulted in the lively Richarlison squaring the ball for Roberto Pereyra to coolly slot home past the onrushing Thibaut Courtois.

But, despite their hugely underwhelming performance, Chelsea managed to turn things back in their favour, with Michy Batshuayi at the heart of things.

The Belgian was introduced with an hour on the clock, replacing the ineffectual Alvaro Morata, and made his mark after just 10 minutes on the pitch.

A brilliant delivery from the right from Pedro was headed home superbly by Batshuayi after 71 minutes, before he followed Cesar Azpilicueta’s go-ahead header with his second of the day in injury time.

And the ‘Batsman’, who had gone uncharacteristically quiet on Twitter over recent weeks, quickly took to social media to celebrate his match-winning display, with the highlights below:
