Mourinho v Conte

Chelsea set to move for Premier League forward after Lukaku snub

Benteke move

Chelsea are thought to be considering a move for Christian Benteke according to the Telegraph, after seeing their plans for number one transfer target, Romelu Lukaku, blow up in their face.

The Blues are after a forward this summer, and are growing increasingly desperate given Diego Costa is sure to be leaving, and they only have the option of Michy Batshuayi, who Antonio Conte has made it clear is second string at best for the time being.

Benteke is someone who Conte feels would fit his style of play, and is physical enough, yet going from a marquee signing to a Liverpool reject may not sit well with the fans.

Big issues

Lukaku defecting to Manchester United has caused the Blues huge issues, and it seems that they may well come to regret alienating Diego Costa, who wants to return to Atletico Madrid, but will be unable to play for six months due to their ban on registering players.

It could’ve been the case that Costa moves in January, but Conte – to his own detriment it seems – made it clear that was not an option for the Spaniard.
