Chelsea talks set to take place
Chelsea will reportedly hold talks with Sassuolo on Wednesday over the possibility of re-signing former youngster Jeremie Boga.
Boga has impressed since leaving Chelsea back in 2018.
The Ivorian only featured in 18 minutes of first-team football during his time at Stamford Bridge.
Boga then left the club permanently for Sassuolo back in 2018, following a loan spell with Birmingham.
Since then, Boga has racked up 50 appearances for the Italian side, and is currently having his best season to date.
Predominantly playing on the left-wing, Boga has scored an impressive seven goals, and assisted four.
Some of his goals have also come against the likes of Juventus, Roma and Inter Milan.
Now, Chelsea are reportedly considering a move to re-sign Boga through a clause secured in his sale.
Boga back to Stamford Bridge?
According to the Mirror, Chelsea will hold talks with Sassuolo on Wednesday to determine whether or not to re-sign Boga.
They claim: ‘A buyback clause was inserted into the midfielder’s contract which would see Chelsea pay £12.7m to take him back to Stamford Bridge.’
As a result of his performances, Chelsea are considering triggering that clause and signing the player this summer.
Speaking about his Chelsea exit recently, Boga seemed to suggest he’d be open to returning.
“Leaving Chelsea was a shame,” he explained, as quoted by the Mirror.
“Aside from that, I have no regrets. Each thing comes into its own time. It was certainly not the time for me to play for Chelsea.
“I always keep that in the corner of my head. If I continue to do what I am doing, maybe I will be back one day.”
If these reports are to be believed, that day may come earlier than even Boga expected.
