Battle of the blues
Chelsea are set to challenge Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City for one midfield star this summer, with the fee likely to be €40 million.
That midfielder comes in the form of former Barcelona target Jean Michaël Seri, who supposedly has an agreement to leave Nice this summer.
The Ivorian star has heavily linked with a move to the Camp Nou last summer before the deal fell flat at the last hurdle.
That lead to the signing of Brazilian Paulinho who has actually been somewhat of a revelation in Catalunya.
Though, that doesn’t mean that sides will not be in for Seri this season after it was revealed that he had an agreement with Nice that if a fee €40m was met, he could leave.
At that price, it could be a very good piece of business, with the midfielder still very highly rated in Europe.
Though, that fee means that it will not be easy to sign him by any means.
L’Equipe, cited by Sport Witness, claim that inital contant has been made by Chelsea.
The French outlet claim that the club have ‘learned about the conditions for a transfer’ and are looking at making a move.
Though, as expected, Manchester City have also been linked and he has also been heavily linked with a move to the Etihad.
Much of that depends on whether Pep Guardiola can grasp the signing of Shakhtar Donetsk’s Fred but Chelsea will almost certainly face competition.
