Chelsea & rival PL fans highlight issue with Man United’s Jadon Sancho announcement

Supporters of both Chelsea and a host of other Premier League clubs have taken to social media this afternoon, to highlight what has been identified as a major issue with Manchester United’s announcement of Jadon Sancho’s signing.

Reds switch

The news which Red Devils fans across the globe were patiently awaiting was finally forthcoming this afternoon.

This came in the form of the club’s first signing of the summer being made official.

Confirmation that a deal between the respective boards at Old Trafford and Signal Iduna Park had at last been struck for Jadon Sancho was of course forthcoming at the beginning of the month:

The weeks since, however, had seen ensuing updates few and far between, as then-Dortmund standout Sancho turned his attentions to England’s Euro 2020 endeavours.

After the Three Lions saw their campaign come to a heartbreaking end at the hands of champions Italy a fortnight ago, though, Sancho’s official unveiling as a Manchester United player was labelled as imminent.

And, on Friday, such an announcement has been forthcoming:

‘He’s a Chelsea fan’

The widespread reaction amongst the Red Devils faithful, for obvious reasons, has since proven one of combined joy and relief, with Sancho having of course been tipped to make the move to Old Trafford for several years now.

Rival fanbases, however, as outlined above, have reacted to the news in an altogether contrasting manner.

This comes with one of Manchester United’s many social media posts on Friday having assured that their latest addition has come ‘home’:

The issue drawn here? Sancho is not only a youth product of the Red Devils’ cross-town rivals Manchester City, but also a self-professed childhood Chelsea fan, who grew up in South London.

The online backlash, in turn, was inevitable:
