Chelsea plan to reject Frank Lampard’s request to use loanees Mason Mount and Fikayo Tomori when they meet his Derby County side in the EFL Cup, according to Standard Sport.
Both youngsters, on loan from Chelsea, played prominent roles in the Rams’ penalty shootout win over Manchester United in the third round of the competition.
The Blues welcome Lampard back to Stamford Bridge on October 31 with the club’s former midfielder being sat in the opposition dugout.
Lampard’s Mount and Tomori request
Mount and Tomori have both been key members of Lampard’s Derby side this season.
The former Blues midfielder has impressed upon his start to life as a manager.
His team are currently sat just one point off of the play-off spots.
His biggest success so far came at Old Trafford as Derby eliminated the Red Devils from the League Cup.
The Rams now face a tricky trip to Stamford Bridge and face the prospect of doing so without two key players.
Chelsea are unwilling to allow their two loanees to feature in the fourth round clash.
Speaking about the situation, Lampard said:
“For their careers, it will be great development but from the Chelsea side they want to win the game, just as we do.
“I will respect their decision whatever it is.”

Last week Mason Mount earned a surprise call-up to England senior team.
The 19-year-old has impressed for the nation’s under-21s and will now be hoping to shine under Gareth Southgate.
The Three Lions face two UEFA Nations League games against Spain and Croatia over the international break.
