Chelsea completing their summer transfers early
Chelsea have reportedly orally agreed a deal with Ajax to sign playmaker Hakim Ziyech ahead of the summer transfer window.
The Blues will be free to sign players in the summer transfer window, having previously been under a transfer ban.
Chelsea were free to sign players in the winter window after their appeal, but decided against recruiting players mid-season.
It’s assumed, though, that the Blues will strengthen heavily in the summer, having been unable to sign for so long.
As a result, Chelsea have been linked with numerous moves.
Jadon Sancho has also been persistently linked with Chelsea.
It’s said that Frank Lampard will have £150million to spend, and according to new reports, his spending spree has already begun.
Lampard jumps the queue for Ziyech
According to Dutch outlet De Telegraaf, Chelsea have an oral agreement with Ajax over the transfer of Hakim Ziyech.
They claim: ‘Ajax will almost certainly lose its superstar Hakim Ziyech to Chelsea. The English top club has reached an (oral) agreement with the management of Ajax in the last 24 hours about the transfer of the Moroccan attacker, who has to make the switch to London in the summer.’
The fee, according to De Telegraaf, would be €45 million.
Despite this, Chelsea’s agreement is hardly binding.
As suggested in the report, ‘the door is ajar for other European top clubs’ until a deal is agreed in writing.
Regardless, this is a big step in the right direction for Chelsea in making their move for Ziyech a reality.
