You don’t mess with Roman
Diego Costa has been making eyes at China if you believe the reports, and while even most Chelsea fans would tell you that Antonio Conte’s version of events doesn’t quite ring true, the club have so far tried to play down the speculation over the player’s future.
That was before the Mirror reported that owner Roman Abramovich is ready to let Costa rot in the stands, and refuse to allow him his big money move, where he will reportedly earn £30 million per season and leave the Champions Elect in the lurch.
Abramovich also feels saying no to China now will set the example for the rest of the league, and will not be bullied by the money on offer in the new league, or by Jorge Mendes.
Chelsea have already been linked to a host of replacements for Costa, including Real Madrid forward Alvaro Morata, and they would have no issue luring a player, considering they have the money and will be back in the top four come the end of the season – possibly as Champions of England to boot.
