Chelsea new boy Mateo Kovacic speaks out following loan move

‘It is an amazing feeling’

Chelsea’s new midfielder Mateo Kovacic has been speaking about how he is looking forward to a ‘great season’ with the club following a loan move.

The Croatian midfielder moved to Stamford Bridge as part of the deal that saw Thibaut Courtois join Real Madrid.

That will see Kovacic at the club until the end of the season and he could become a key player under Maurizio Sarri.

The player featured for his nation in the World Cup five times but he couldn’t quite crack the Real Madrid midfield.

‘I will try to do my best for this club. It is a new league for me, the beginning is always tough but I am sure the coach and my new team-mates will help me and I am looking forward to a great season.’

Chelsea’s director Marina Granovskaia has also dropped a hint that the player will be used plenty this season.

That is because she has revealed that the player is ‘well suited’ to how the new boss Maurizio Sarri wants to play.

‘We are very happy to welcome Mateo to the Chelsea family,’ she explained.

‘He is a perfect fit for us this season, his style is well suited to how Maurizio wants to play and we are sure he will prove to be a valuable asset for the club.’
