Barcelona Coutinho

Chelsea & Manchester United linked to Philippe Coutinho but Anfield return is ruled out

What’s next for Philippe Coutinho at Barcelona?

It seems fair to say that Philippe Coutinho’s move to Barcelona has so far not panned out well.

Barcelona’s fans repeatedly heckled Coutinho last season, as the former Liverpool playmaker underperformed at the Camp Nou.

Liverpool sold Coutinho for 142 million pounds, while the Brazilian is under contract at Barcelona until 2023.

But will the 27-year-old still be plying his trade with the Catalans at the start of the 2019-20 season?

Suggestions keep swirling that Barcelona are ready to cut their losses on Coutinho.

Philippe Coutinho’s return to Liverpool isn’t happening

Last week, French website Le 10 Sport suggested that Liverpool could re-sign Philippe Coutinho.

However, Spanish paper Mundo Deportivo on Sunday confirm that there’s no chance of Coutinho returning to Anfield anytime soon. MD report:

Although the French portal ‘Le10Sport’ indicated that the midfielder from Rio de Janeiro could go back to Liverpool, the team he left in January 2018 to sign for Barca, sources close to Barca player have told MD that’s untrue.

Chelsea vs Manchester United

While Le 10 Sport and Mundo Deportivo may disagree over links between Liverpool and Coutinho, they both agree that Chelsea and Manchester United are interested in the Brazilian.

Links to Chelsea seem a little silly right now.

That’s because Chelsea are currently restricted in the transfer market, as they’ve been hit with a two-window transfer embargo by UEFA.

On Man United links, MD suggest that the player would refuse to switch to Old Trafford.

One suspects that Coutinho’s loyalty to Liverpool would rule out a Man United move.

That leaves MD to play up a possible Coutinho move to PSG.
